Founder, CEO & Futurist
Sheila Shockey is the founder and CEO. She has held leadership positions in city management, public works, and planning for local governments as a staff member or consultant since 1989. She is an experienced project manager with numerous American Planning Association Award Winning Plans, including a National APA award for comprehensive planning. She brings the study of futurology to clients so they can imagine positive change through the lens of a scientific and historical understanding of the world.
Known for her expertise in public process design and facilitation, her superpower is the ability to research, understand, and communicate complex subjects including how future trends may impact communities. She busts the myth that either you are a right-brained intuitive, creative, free thinker or a left-brained quantitative, analytical, or logical thinker. Whether it is public policy, economics, financial, sociology, or scientific, she can translate these concepts into value-based conversations that everyone can participate in and come to consensus around. Sheila uses data-rich tools to show interconnection between issues so participants can comprehend big, complex transformations and make better decisions for a more resilient world.
She is obsessed with her Australian Shepherd, Bodhi and loves her family, laughing, sports, skiing, making art, karaoke, traveling, and improv.
Sheila holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Washburn University.
