Founder and President
Sheila Shockey, founder and president of Shockey Consulting Services, LLC, has worked in the Kansas City region as a staff member and a consultant for governments since 1989. Sheila brings the perspective of having worked in a government agency, a deep understanding of the issues & challenges communities face, and the ability to translate that information effectively to all stakeholders.
There was a time when Sheila didn’t think the internet was going to be a big deal. Older and wiser now, Sheila works with communities to use local data and identify specific trends that will impact their future. She doesn’t call herself a futurist. With those superpowers, she would win the NCAA Men’s basketball pool each year. Instead, she uses data-rich tools to show the interconnection between technologies, society, economics, and government so residents can comprehend big, complex transformations and make better decisions for a more resilient world. She is a member of the World Futurist Society with education in city management, planning and economics.
When she is not talking about her kids and granddaughter, she is talking about sports and transgenerational thinking. Sheila loves helping ordinary citizens understand the complexities of public policy decisions, especially how they will relate to future generations. Her favorite holiday is March Madness. She is a lifelong Jayhawk and Royals fan. Sheila holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Washburn University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from University of Missouri – Kansas City.
