Environmental Planner, Project Manager

Liam brings a transportation-focused lens and a strong commitment to environmental planning to Shockey Consulting, with particular expertise in active transportation. His work is grounded in the belief that well-designed transportation systems can improve quality of life, public health, and environmental outcomes.

Before entering the planning field, Liam worked as a video journalist at CNBC and Business Insider, where he produced stories on infrastructure, sustainability, and public transit. That experience sharpened his ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling narratives—skills he now applies to community engagement, stakeholder communication, and planning processes.

Seeking a deeper understanding of the field, Liam earned a master’s degree in Environment, Society and Development from the University of Galway in Ireland. During his time abroad, he traveled extensively across Europe, drawing inspiration from international approaches to mobility, urban design, and environmental policy that continue to inform his work today.

Outside of work, Liam enjoys exploring cities on foot or by bike, trying new cafes, rock climbing, and practicing yoga.
