April is an urban planner with knowledge of environmental challenges such as climate change and environmental justice. She strives to create healthier and more equitable communities through sustainable solutions. Her passions lie with climate action, resilience, hazard mitigation, and food systems planning.
She received her bachelor's degree in environmental studies with a minor in communications from the University of Kansas as well as her master’s degree in urban planning. April has experience in research, writing, and public engagement. She enjoys the challenge of communicating important environmental and planning concerns to a variety of audiences through written and visual mediums.
April grew up in Minnesota where she developed her love for the outdoors through hiking and kayaking. In her free time, April enjoys coloring, knitting, binging The Office or Portlandia on Netflix, and of course, cheering on Jayhawk basketball.
