Maddie Hughes is an urban planner and engagement specialist with a background in design, urban and environmental planning, and housing policy. Maddie's work is focused on using community-based participatory research to help neighborhoods tell stories that promote greater access to sustainable and active living. She loves the intersection of the built and natural world, actively creating spaces and places on the human scale for the people who live and interact with the community. Maddie has worked on a variety of land use and sustainable community planning projects across Kansas City, using active participatory design principles to deep dive and discover what a community wants and needs to thrive. Maddie enjoys traveling the world, spending time hiking and rock climbing outdoors, and discovering new places around town.
